We warmly congratulate Dr. Kira Schamoni-Kast on successfully completing her doctorate entitled Comparative studies of protein dynamics in coronaviruses. In her dissertation, she investigated the processing of coronavirus polyproteins and the role of individual cleavage sites in the formation of the replication/transcription complex. Using high-resolution native mass spectrometry, she obtained new kinetic and structural insights into the function of viral proteins. Her findings significantly advance our understanding of key mechanisms in coronavirus replication and provide valuable starting points for future antiviral developments.
